How do I see my messages? Can I recover deleted messages?

Understand where to find messages on desktop, mobile web, and apps, how to recover a deleted message, and how to delete a conversation.

Updated over a week ago

Members have two message folders:

  • Messages folder: Here you’ll find messages initiated by you and any responses to those messages. You will also find messages initiated by others.

  • Sent folder: Here you’ll find your sent messages that haven’t received a response yet. After you receive a response, that conversation gets moved to the Messages folder.

To access these folders:

Desktop web

  1. Click on Messages; and

  2. On the left side of the screen, you will see both folders: Messages and Sent.

Mobile web, iOS, and Android:

  1. Tap on Messages;

  2. Tap on the Folder symbol in the top-right corner; and

  3. You will see both folders: Messages and Sent.

If you’re unable to find/open a message, including a Wink message, it could be due to one of the following reasons:

  • The member has fully deleted their account;

  • The member has been suspended for violating our Terms and Conditions; and

  • The message is older than 90 days.

When a member is suspended, all messages to and from this member are deleted permanently for security purposes. Additionally:

  • When a member is removed from our service and you have sent messages to them, the credits used for the initial message will be returned to your account automatically; and

  • Messages in the Messages and Sent folders are automatically deleted every 90 days.

How do I recover a deleted message?

Unfortunately, deleted messages aren’t recoverable.

How do I delete a conversation?

You can delete a conversation by:

  • Opening the conversation you want to delete;

  • Clicking on the three dots (or Options depending on the device you’re using); and

  • Selecting Delete conversation.

Why are my messages not being sent?

If you’re experiencing issues with your messages not sending:

  • Ensure that you have enough credits in your account;

  • Ensure you are looking in the correct folder (check both Messages and Sent); and

  • Make sure you’re connected to the internet.
